Fourth-year Ph.D. student Monica De La Cruz knew, “If I wasn’t true to what I was passionate about, I would regret it later.” The Chancellor’s Fellowship has made it possible for her to explore the narratives around people in poverty, how they contribute to punitive policies, and contribute to the conversation on addressing economic inequities in the U.S. — all while raising her daughter.
