Water polo player Roser Tarrago won her second career silver medal with Spain.

UC Berkeley’s long tradition of Olympic success dates back to the 1920 Antwerp games. It was there that the U.S. Olympic Rugby team — which included six Cal athletes — captured the university’s first gold in a shocking 8–0 upset over France.

A total of 57 Golden Bears — 49 athletes and 8 coaches — traveled to Tokyo for the most recent Summer Olympic Games, representing 18 different countries and including 10 current students. Golden Bears captured 13 medals (4 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze) to raise the school’s all-time total to 220 (fourth-highest in the country).
